Fairview Phoenix Festbier
Fairview Phoenix is a pale lager beer (5.2% abv), brewed with locally grown and locally malted barley from Asheville’s Riverbend Malt House. Gently hopped with noble old world hops and lagered for 2 months in our farmhouse brewery.
Fairview Phoenix Festbier has a malty backbone with notes of fresh bread, honey, and toffee. It also has a light hoppiness with a soft floral note.
Smooth, clean, and drinkable beer, more robust than a Munich Helles. Festbier is a typical beer served at Munich’s Oktoberfest. It’s a relatively recent trend that replaced the richer amber lagers of the past.
About the beer name:
We had originally brewed this new Festbier to celebrate Oktoberfest and the new 2024 leaf season, but we had not come up with a name for it. Then Hurricane Helen paid us a visit and interrupted the release. After the floods receded, the festbier no longer remained unamed. Rising from the ashes of the burnt flood debris, the name Fairview Phoenix came alive.
The beer naming credits go to the volunteer crews and staff that helped Turgua during the recovery and cleanup. They suggested we make a new beer with the Phoenix name as a symbol of our recovery. The beer was already made all it needed was a name. Thus Fairview Phoenix Festbier was born.
The name is an ode to the resilience of the Fairview community and all of WNC. It’s a tribute to the first responders, institutions, businesses and families that came together during these hard times and offered unfettered support to our community. The name is an encouragement to the rebirth of Fairview as well as all the communities affected by the storm.
A portion of the sales will be donated to charities that support the recovery of the Fairview community from the storm.
