Our spacious taproom, Turgua on the Creek, is located along the banks of Fairview's beautiful Cane Creek. Originally a tractor sales and repair shop, the taproom has been completely renovated into a bright and open space. Although the tractors are long gone, the large open doors remain.
When you walk in be sure to notice the door at our main entrance. Look familiar? That is because it was upcycled from the old Altamont Theater, an iconic building in historic downtown Asheville.
The renovation included a custom carved wood-edged copper top bar that is wrapped in recycled barrel staves. Behind the bar resides 24 taps that pour an eclectic variety of beer, cider, and mead all made by Turgua Brewing.
Enjoy your food and drinks in the cool of the taproom or under the sun on the deck or in the ample outdoor space by the creek. Be sure to check out the events calendar to see our live music and daily food truck line up!
West Coast IPA brewed with local 2-Row and Pilsner and oat malts from Asheville’s Riverbend Malt House and Carolina Malt House, organic US malts and oat flakes. Hopped with Cascade, Centennial, Mosaic and dry hopped with El Dorado. Smooth mouth feel, full bodied, balanced citrus and floral aromas. This one is one of our favorites!!
Brewed with local malts and flaked rye, our Bird of Paradise IPA is loaded with copious amounts of juicy hops. Amarillo, Belma, Cashmere, Mosaic and Citra dance with the malt sugars and suspended yeast to the tune of a hazy tropical fruit polka.
Made using freshly pressed juice from locally grown Rome, Pink Lady, Granny Smith and Red Delicious apples from McConnell Farms in Henderson County. Fermented with Cote De Blanc yeast. This cider has a nice tartness that leaves you wanting more!
Try our all New Zealand hopped IPA today! The Kea is fermented with malts from Riverbend and Carolina Malt Houses and hopped with Pacific Jade, Motueka, Southern Cross and Nelson Sauvin. With a hazy body, this beer is slightly bitter up front, with a light grape note on the finish.
The Lovebird, is brewed with local malts, secondary fermentation on loads of raspberry puree and freshly roasted Nicaraguan cracked chocolate beans, locally sourced from our friends at French Broad Chocolate. Deep raspberry, toffee and roasted bean layered aromas, dry and robust chocolate toffee/coffee flavors with a distinct raspberry fruit tartness that tickles the sides your tongue.
A heart warming stout for the dark beer loving ones, perfect for cozying up during cold winter evenings. And if you’re feeling faint-hearted about trying it, we dare you, we’ve heard rumors that one sip might convert you, if anything your loved one will appreciate your stoutheartedness.
Our hefeweizen is brewed with local pilsner and wheat malts from Carolina Malt House and lightly hopped with noble German hops. Fermented on American Hefeweizen yeast from White Labs. Beautiful bready notes with subdued banana and clove aromas. Taste is crisp with faint hints of the classic banana and clove.
Super refreshing and delicious! It’s the perfect summer drink!
Pale Ale Brewed with local Southern Select 2-Row, Heritage, Carolina Rye and Appalachian Wheat from Riverbend Malt House, fresh Turmeric root from our neighbor on Garren Creek Farmer Gregg’s Produce Stand, and black Tellichery peppercorns. Hopped with Brewers Gold and Mosaic. Full bodied earthy fruity silk with a piquant finish on the back of your throat. Happiness and health in one sip, so they say.
Pale Ale Brewed with local Carolina Rye, Pilsner and Pale malts and grains from NC Carolina’s Riverbend Malt House and Carolina Malt House. Dry hopped with Centennial this beer is smooth, refreshingly fruity and very floral. A customer favorite lighter drinking ale.
This beautiful hydromel mead is brewing with local Haw Creek Honey and a hand selected tea blend. The stunning color comes from blue cornflower and blue butterfly flower. This mead drinks light but has bold flavor with a vibrant body and bright finish.
American Brown Ale brewed with local Heritage and Pale malts from Asheville’s Riverbend Malt House, US organic caramel malt and oat flakes. Secondary fermentation with cracked cocoa beans from French Broad Chocolate. This is a clean American brown ale with delicate bitter notes of chocolate.
Toucanet, Hazy Session IPA, a juicy release to join our IPA family. Brewed with local malted barley and malted oats, dry hopped with loads of Citra, Mosaic and Galaxy. Hazy, powerful citrus, passion fruit and mango aroma. Crushable, juicy, tropical, spicy, hop tang with low ABV, 5 % . This one hits the sweet spot for when you’re jonesing for a straight hop fix without the higher alcohol side jab to the temple.
Our strawberry saison has a bit of pepper from our saison yeast, followed by some sweet-tartness from local strawberries.
Amazonian Tyrant is a lovely coffee stout brewed with a selection of malts from @riverbendmalt and other US caramel and roasted malts. Secondary cold brewed with whole beans in the fermenter with a select blend of beans from Colombia and Peru that were freshly roasted by our local friends @southslopecoffee .
BTW, South Slope Coffee doesn’t normally blend beans, but they made an exception for us! We asked for a blend that would represent Amazon origins and they came up with a beautiful selection of two beans. One from Huila, Colombia, Alfonso Sambony beans with notes of tropical fruit smoothie, fuji apple and blackberries. The other from Peru, Carrazco beans with notes of baked peaches, baking spices and nougat (for more info on the two beans check their website at https://southslopecoffee.com)
Incredibly delicious cold brew stout with rich coffee and toffee-nougat aromas. Subtly sweet from the Peruvian beans, and nutty, roasted almonds from the Colombian beans. Drinks like a cold brew with hints of Stout, so watch out, don’t get confused, it still is a beer! Too bad we’re not open in the morning, this definitely qualifies as a breakfast brew!
Kite Blanc, Farmhouse Cider made with local rome, pink lady, granny smith and red delicious apples from Hendersonville, fermented wild with additional white wine yeast. Dry and fruity with a pleasant mild funk from wild yeast. Granny smith crisp tart with a faint residual sweetness and a bit piquant on the back of the throat. This is our batch from last year’s apples. As you probably remember 2021 was not a good year for apples. Some local areas had 80% less production than the previous year! We were not even sure we could get enough juice for our cider production. Given the small selection of local 2021 apples we are please with the results of this cider.
Chorlo, Mexican Lager, brewed with local malted barley and corn from Carolina and Riverbend malthouses, hopped with noble and Motueka hops. Gentle malt aroma, bready and crisp, illuminatingly light with a lemony finishing touch. So delicious and crushable, this is the perfect beer to combine with a lawn chair or a mower!
Our Petit Blue Heron is a blueberry kettle sour Kviek ale. It has a lovely blueberry aroma that lures you in and that first sip brings the tart (but not too tart, in our opinion), the blueberry flavor shines in the middle and is joined by some lovely berry notes from the Kviek yeast in the finish.
Frayzon, Strawberry Sour Saison, a seasonal favorite is back on tap. Brewed with local Pilsner and Wheat malts from Riverbend Malt House, gently kettle soured with L. brevis and L. delbruekii, secondary fermentation on local fresh organic strawberries from Flying Cloud Farm. Fruity strawberry nose, tart, crisp and tastebud enrobing, thirst quench refreshing, a total hot weather companion!
Farmhouse Ale brewed with Pilsner, Southern Select 2-row and Appalachian Wheat from Riverbend Malt House, hopped with noble hops and dry hopped with Jarrylo. Elegant and floral, gentle citrusy with hints of apricot and tropical fruits… Your tastebuds will be yay’ing life again. Salivatingly delicious, the Jay will bring back La Vie to your day.
Bluebird is brewed with local malts from Riverbend Malt House and Carolina Malt House. Lightly Hopped with Old World Noble Hops and Mandarina Bavaria. Secondary fermentation on locally sourced blueberries. This beauty is tangy and tart, and quenches the thirst.
Our newest cider, Zin Coquette, is made with Ginger and Honey. It is light, with a bit of zing from the ginger, and a dry finish.
Kiskadee is a Kolsch, light and easy drinking.
Red Rye IPA brewed with local Carolina Rye, Heritage and 2-Row malts from Asheville’s Riverbend Malt House and Carolina Malt House organic caramel US malts. Hopped with Columbus, Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe and dry hopped with Amarillo. This is a robust, malty and spicy red IPA guaranteed to deliver an explosion to your taste buds.
Our Raspberry Saison, the Smiling Flamingo, is a NC 2019 award winning beer! It is brewed with local malts and Appalachian wheat from Riverbend Malt House and fermented with saison yeast. In the secondary fermentation we load up on fresh local raspberries. Experience a delicious raspberry aroma and fruity flavors that are enhanced by the saison yeast.
Coffee Saison, brewed with local Pilsner and Appalachian wheat malts from Riverbend Malt House. Fermented with White Labs yeast WLP-565 saison yeast. Secondary cold brew fermentation on freshly roasted, sustainably harvested Ethiopian coffee beans provided by South Slope Coffee Roasters. Enchanting coffee aroma on the nose. Fruity, mellow, sweet, and floral, with balanced roasted cherry/nutty coffee flavor without the lingering acrid, butter dark roasted mouth feel associated with coffee. Au contraire, this is where cold brew coffee meets heaven! If you like beer and coffee, but do not enjoy coffee beers (I don’t) this one will surprise you. Who knew coffee beer could taste this good!
